Terms of use

What this site is, what it is not, and the rules that govern consulting it.

Browsing michaelkodji.com means accepting the rules below. There is nothing unusual in them: they state exactly what this site is, and what cannot reasonably be asked of it. If you do not agree to them, your remedy is to leave the site. The French version is binding.

What this site is

A professional portfolio: it presents a background, projects, services and articles. Nothing more.

Service descriptions and any ranges shown are indicative and constitute neither an offer in the legal sense, nor a quote, nor any commitment on price or lead time. Nothing is sold here: an engagement comes into being only through a named quote accepted in writing and a signed contract, which then prevail over anything on the site.

Submitting the contact form creates no obligation — neither for you nor for me. It opens a conversation, nothing else, and carries no guarantee of a reply, of availability, or of accepting an engagement.

Demonstration projects

Some of the projects shown are demonstration work, built to illustrate technical skill. They are flagged as such. The clients, figures, testimonials and results appearing in them are fictional or anonymised: they are not verifiable references, they prove no commercial result, and they can ground no expectation of performance on a future engagement.

Editorial content

The journal articles set out technical observations at a given date, in a given context. They are field notes, not professional advice — technical, legal, tax or financial — and they are no substitute for examining your own situation.

Software moves fast: an article accurate at publication may cease to be. You remain solely responsible for verifying and adapting any code, setting or method taken from here, and for the consequences of doing so. No example is supplied with any warranty of fitness for a particular purpose.

Availability

The site is provided as is and as available. No uptime is guaranteed: maintenance, an update, a hosting or network failure, an attack or force majeure may interrupt it, without notice or compensation. Pages, features and content may be changed, moved or withdrawn at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the publisher cannot be held liable for:

  • indirect or consequential loss — loss of business, revenue, data, customers or opportunity — arising from access to the site or its unavailability;
  • the use you make of any information, code excerpt or recommendation published here;
  • the content, availability or practices of third-party sites linked from here;
  • any impairment of your equipment or data following consultation of the site.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, in particular for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or harm to persons.

Prohibited uses

You undertake not to:

  • copy, reproduce, adapt or reuse all or part of the site — code, texts, visuals, graphic identity — without prior written permission;
  • carry out mass automated extraction (scraping, harvesting, abusive indexing) or train an artificial intelligence system on this content without permission;
  • attempt to reach any non-public part of the site, probe its defences, circumvent its rate limits, or disrupt its operation;
  • use the contact form to send unlawful, abusive, deceptive or unsolicited promotional content, or content carrying malicious code, or to impersonate anyone.

A breach may result in immediate blocking of access and, where warranted, appropriate legal action. Security testing is permitted only with prior written agreement; outside that framework it constitutes intrusion. A vulnerability found in good faith may be reported to contact@michaelkodji.com, and will be received with gratitude.

Your data

The processing of data submitted through the form is described in the privacy policy, which forms an integral part of these terms.

Intellectual property

The site and its components remain the property of their author. Consulting it transfers no rights and grants no licence, beyond the right to read the pages and quote briefly from them while naming the source. The assignment of rights over work delivered under an engagement is settled by that engagement's contract, never by these terms.

Changes and governing law

These terms may be amended; the version online on the date of your visit is the one that applies, and the update date appears at the top of the page.

They are governed by Ivorian law. Any dispute will first be the subject of an attempt at amicable settlement; failing agreement within sixty days, it falls within the jurisdiction of the courts of Abidjan, without prejudice to the mandatory rules protecting consumers in their country of residence.

Should any clause be held void or unenforceable, the remainder shall stay in full force.
